Three Ormskirk teams have entered this MQL competition which will be played as a knockout, with a Plate for the first round losers. Colly Wobblers beat Ringers from Warrington 51-49 in which there was never more than two points between the teams in any round. Pat Gibson scored 20 for Colly Wobblers. Unison beat Grapes of Wrath from Southport & Formby 63-28 with Darren Martin and Alan Gibbs also scoring 20. Nineteen points from Peter Gateley helped Greyhound beat Exiles from Liverpool 43-32. Division 1:- 20 points from Bill Gerrard wasn’t enough for Turks Head Sinners to avoid defeat at the hands of Robin Hood. Despite 15 points from Kevin Walton, Turks Head Saints lost to Colly Wobblers, for whom Mike Unsworth scored 21. 16 points from Eric Lupton helped Rugby Hounds earn a victory over Whippet.
Division 2:- Squigglers maintained their 100% record with a comfortable win over Hayfield; Janet Crompton (19) and Barry Marshall (12) scored well for the winners, as did Matt Cochrane (15) for Hayfield. Helenians stay second after their win over Aughton Institute; Dave Boyd (18) and Alf Westwell (13) top scored for the winners. Benchwarmers, for whom Rob Green scored 15 lost to Bispham Farmers Arms; Jim Dawber also scored 15 for the winners.

Division 1:- In the top of the table clash, Unison emerged victorious by a single point; Alan Gibbs (17) and Darren Martin (15) scored well for the winners as did John Wilson (21) for Greyhound. 15 points from Debbie Davidson helped Whippet to the narrowest of wins over Colly Wobblers for whom Mike Unsworth scored 19. An impressive 24 points from Bill Gerrard earned Turks Head Sinners a draw with Newburgh Lions. Despite 15 points from Barbara Flaherty, Turks Head Saints lost to Robin Hood, all of whose players scored in double figures.
Division 2:- Helenians consolidated second place with a comfortable win over Hayfield, thanks to 14 points each from Mike Flaherty and Bob Foster; Andrew Sackville scored 13 for Hayfield. An impressive 20 points from Paul Prior backed up by 13 points each from Sarah Lawton and Keith Mountain enabled Ormskirk Tennis Club’s win over Ormskirk Theatre Company, for whom Alan Thompson scored 14. 15 points from Jim Dawber helped Bispham Farmers Arms to a draw with Aughton Institute.

The MQL Council has agreed that fixtures will resume from Monday January 31.

The MQL Council has decided that league fixtures will not resume before Monday January 31st.
Fixtures will be played in the planned order, but moved back three weeks.
The Council will meet on January 23rd to monitor progress.
