Congratulations to Steve Pilkington (Abbey Sinners) for his performance on the ITV quiz show The Chase last Wednesday. He answered eight questions in the Cashbuilder round which added £8000 to the £42000 banked by the other three contestants. They scored 23 in the Final round to 20 by the Chaser and so won £12500 each.
It is on itv hub until mid December.

In their third evening of matches Ormskirk continued the pattern of the previous two - one win and one loss. The win was against Liverpool 2A by 44-35 with Bill Gerrard scoring 18. The loss was against Warrington by 43-55, Bill again doing well with 15 and Alan Thompson scoring 14. Francis Williams (Abbey Sinners) made his debut for the team.

Division 1:- In a very high scoring game (aggregate score 103) Greyhound made a late run to overtake Unison; John Wilson scored 21 for the winners and Darren Martin 15 for Unison. Colly Wobblers stay top by one point after their win over Robin Hood; Pat Gibson (20 plus another ‘full house’) and Mike Unsworth(16) led the scoring for the winners and Paul Coffey replied with 16 for Robin Hood. Despite 20 points from Jim Maloney, Newburgh Lions lost to Helenians for whom Alf Westwell scored 17. 17 points from Janet Crompton helped Squigglers to a much needed win over Ormskirk Tennis Club for whom Paul Prior contributed 19 points . In spite of 18 points from David Hodgson and 15 from Eric Lupton, Rugby Hounds lost to Whippet by a single point.
Division 2 :- Gang of Four (who only fielded 3 players) lost their first game of the season going down to Abbey Sinners for whom Bill Gerrard scored 22 and Steve Pilkington 15. Abbey Saints, all of whose players scored in double figures with Barbara Flaherty leading the way with 14, stay second after their win over Legion Lions for whom Adrian Disley scored 13. 19 points from Alan Thompson greatly helped Ormskirk Theatre Company overcome Aughton Institute. 21 points from Jim Dawber was the major factor in Parbold Exiles win over Benchwarmers.

Division 1:- Monday’s quiz produced high scoring and close games. Unison, for whom Darren Martin scored 20 and Charles Johnson 15 drew with Squigglers, all of whose players scored in double figures, Despite 17 points from David Hodgson and 15 from Colin McDonald, Rugby Hounds lost by the narrowest of margins to Ormskirk Tennis Club, for whom Paul Prior scored 15. Newburgh Lions continued their excellent season with a win over Whippet; David Sinclair scored 15 for the winners while Charlie McAuley contributed 18 to Whippet’s score. A colossal 29 points and ‘full house’ from Pat Gibson was the major factor in Colly Wobblers’ win over Helenians; Dave Boyd replied with 17 for Helenians. A similar huge score of 24 from John Wilson greatly helped Greyhound overcome Robin Hood.
Division 2 :- Gang of Four continued their 100% record with a win over Legion Lions; Matt Cochrane scored 15 for the winners and Steve Garrett 16 for the Legion. Abbey Saints remain second after their win over Parbold Exiles; Kevin Walton scoring 17 for the Saints. Despite an excellent 22 points from Bill Gerrard, a three man Abbey Sinners went down to Ormskirk Theatre Company for whom Alan Thompson scored 19. Ormskirk Farmers, thanks to 12 from Gerrard Molyneux, won the day over Aughton Institute.

Congratulations to Pat Gibson (Colly Wobblers) who won the Individual title. Pat also won the Pairs competition with Kevin Ashman. Pat and Kevin were two of the four members of the England team that won the Nations Cup.
