Brian Fitton

I am sad to report that Brian passed away yesterday. He was in his mid-70s.

He played for Squigglers since their days as Queen Inn in the 1980s and became their secretary in 1997.

He was diagnosed with lung cancer during last season and played until Christmas.

He was a former chairman and 1st XI captain at Maghull Cricket Club.

Presentation Night

Over forty players from twelve teams saw two finals. In the Plate Unison had overcome the handicap by the end of round two. Although Abbey Sinners kept pace in the second half Unison won by 55 points to 45. In the Trophy Aughton Institute started with a six point advantage and managed to keep ahead throughout. Red Lion Bulldogs won the actual quiz by 1 point, but Aughton Institute won overall by 70 points to 65.

The trophies were presented by members of the Farmers Arms team that played in the league from the early 1970s until last season. Photos are here.
