Division 1:- Unison are top on points difference after another convincing win over Newburgh Lions; Darren Martin (22) and Alan Gibbs (17) made significant contributions to their score and Jim Maloney scored 15 for Newburgh. 15 points from Roy Atherton assured Colly Wobblers win over Turks Head Saints. Robin Hood, for whom Paul McAteer scored 18, had a good win over Turks Head Sinners; Bill Gerrard scoring 15 for the losing team. Rugby Hounds, in a game where there was never less than two points between the teams, began their season with the narrowest of wins over Whippet, for whom Brian Yates scored 15.
Division 2:- 17 points from Jim Dawber helped Bispham Farmers Arms to a win over Benchwarmers and as a result they are top on points difference. Helenians are second after their win over Aughton Institute; Dave Boyd (15) and Bob Foster (15) scored well for the winners while Ian Bakewell scored 12 for Aughton. Squigglers began their season with a convincing win over Hayfield; Barry Marshall (18) and Janet Crompton (15) top scored for Squigglers while Rob Jones added 14 to Hayfield’s reply.

Helenians will play home matches at the Golden Lion in Rainford where they played in our first season and which also hosted one of our most successful teams in the first decade of the league.

Division 1:- Unison, all of whose players registered double figure scores, began the season with a convincing win over Greyhound; Alan Gibbs top scored with 17 points for the winners. In a very tight game, Turks Head Sinners won by the narrowest of margins against Newburgh Lions, thanks to an impressive 21 points from Bill Gerrard; David Sinclair scored 15 for Newburgh. Despite 15 points from Gordon Richards, Whippet lost to Colly Wobblers for whom Mike Unsworth scored 19. In the other game Robin Hood beat Turks Head Saints.
Division 2:- Helenians, thanks to 14 points from Dave Boyd, overcame Hayfield, who only fielded 3 players. 15 points from Paul Prior and 14 from Dave Gordon assured Ormskirk Tennis Club’s victory over Ormskirk Theatre Company, for whom Alan Thompson scored 12. In the other game Bispham Farmers Arms, thanks to 12 points from Jim Dawber, beat Aughton Institute.

The handicaps are available here. In order to equalise the number of matches in the two divisions each team will be awarded one point for a bye week.
