Highlights Week 16

Division 1:- Despite a massive 24 points from John Wilson, Greyhound, who only fielded three players, lost narrowly to Colly Wobblers; all seven players registered double figure scores in this game.    An impressive 21 points from Paul McAteer and 14 from Sue Perks earned Delph Tavern a comfortable win over Rugby Hounds. Newburgh Lions lost to Turks Head Sinners, whose top scorers were Bill Gerrard (21) and Peter Duffy (15)

Division 2:-Turks Head Saints remain unbeaten and top of the table after their win over  Helenians; Charles Johnson scored 17 for the winners and Mike Flaherty 14 for Helenians.          A very impressive 23 points from Alan Thompson and 15 from Gordon Richards earned Ormskirk Theatre Company a victory over Hayfield Gang, for whom Rob Jones scored 13.

Highlights Week 15

Division 1:- Greyhound, all of whose players registered double figure scores led by Brian Farrimond with 17 points, assumed top place after their convincing win over Delph Tavern,  who only fielded three players.  18 points from Darren Martin and 15 from Jim Maloney assured Newburgh Lions win over Rugby Hounds, for whom Eric Lupton scored 20. 19 points from Peter Duffy and 16 from Bill Gerrard earned Turks Head Sinners a draw with Colly Wobblers, for whom Ian Barlow scored 14.

Division 2:- Turks Head Saints remain top of the table after their comfortable victory over Ormskirk Theatre Company; Charles Johnson (18), Kevin Walton (16) and Clive Walton (14) top scored for the winners. Two remarkable individual scores by Janet Crompton (25) and Barry Marshall (20 and a full house) earned Scarecrows a comfortable win over Helenians, for whom Alf Westwell scored 13 and Mike Flaherty 12; as a result Scarecrows move to second place in the table.

President’s Trophy

The latest pair of matches saw the very rare occurrence of Ormskirk winning neither. The first match resulted in a 44-49 defeat to Liverpool, who now head the table by two points, despite 15 points from Charles Johnson. Pat Gibson was the highest scorer in a 44-44 draw against Southport & Formby.

Highlights Week 14

Division 1:- Despite losing to Newburgh Lions, Delph Tavern, for whom Sue Perks scored13, remain top on points difference from Newburgh Lions; Darren Martin scoring 16 for the winners. Colly Wobblers, for whom Mike Unsworth scored 17 lost to Rugby Hounds with Eric Lupton scoring 16 and Tony Robinson 15 for the winners. Thanks to 19 from John Wilson and 17 from Ritchie Venner, Greyhound overcame Turks Head Sinners, for whom Peter Duffy scored 16 and Bill Gerrard 13.

Division 2:- Ormskirk Theatre Company remain unbeaten after their win over Scarecrows; Alan Thompson and Gordon Richards each scored 13 for the winners, while Barry Marshall contributed 14 to Scarecrows score. Despite an impressive 21 points from Rob Jones, Hayfield Gang lost by the narrowest of margins to Turks Head Saints, for whom Kevin Walton scored 13; as a result Turks Head Saints remain top on points difference from Ormskirk Theatre Company.

President’s Shield

Ormskirk continued the season with one win and one defeat, beating Warrington, 46-34 with 17 from Peter Duffy and 16 from Bill Gerrard, but losing to Liverpool 2B, 41-48.
